SIMON KENNEDY / LONDON ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHER

Architectural photography of the Redscape Pavilion.

The blog of Simon Kennedy, Architectural Photographer based in London.

London-based architects McCloy and Muchemwa created this temporary structure in Leeds City Centre, where it formed the backdrop to a series of community arts-based activities. Inspired by Duchamp, the design seeks to alter perceptions about the relationship between art and everyday objects. Barriers deliberately interrupt pedestrian flows through the area, creating a maze-like quality to the experience of passing through. Red structures, seating, cushions, carpets and artificial grass complete the scheme, allowing places for play and spectating as well as taking part in the activities.
