A drastically remodelled townhouse in West London. The architects researched the site thoroughly, discovering that the property had once housed drapers and cloth makers. The clients had a passion for textiles, embroidery and for history, and so Patrick Lewis Architects were able to create a design that synthesized these strands, working with five different artists whose textile installations weave through the house. The design process involved collaboration with the artists as well as thorough exploration of the narrative qualities of the spaces through model-making. The process of constructing the design was also tightly controlled, with reclaimed timber and bespoke furniture utilized throughout.
