The Eyemouth Pavilions project is a contemporary civic development in the historic Scottish fishing town of Eyemouth, offering a compelling subject for architectural photography. Designed as a new community anchor, it reimagines the harbour area while respecting the character of the working port and Conservation Area, reflecting the town’s shift toward a sustainable marine economy.

The scheme features a series of pavilions with ground-floor winter gardens for community use and first-floor studios for start-up entrepreneurs. The completed south pavilion is distinguished by its curved zinc roof, referencing local maritime and boat-building heritage as well as traditional seaside gables.

Constructed from Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) supported by glulam beams and steel columns, the building combines strong visual form with high performance. Natural ventilation, generous openings, and high-performance insulation create a low-energy, CO₂-efficient structure filled with daylight.

Beyond its technical design, the project demonstrates social sustainability, inviting both visitors and residents to engage with the space. Through architectural photography, the pavilions are captured as more than architecture — they are a vibrant civic place shaped by community, heritage, and innovation.
