Architectural photography of the Jersey Energy From Waste Facility by the magnificent Hopkins Architects: definitely one of my favourite schemes to photograph so far. Jersey is stunning, and this ballsy, powerful, high-tech industrial piece of architecture makes a fantastic addition to the island. The hall is one of the most impressive spaces I have seen, and would make a great restaurant… Not only beautiful, this building makes a significant, positive environmental impact by burning waste produced not only by Jersey but also by neighbouring Guernsey, and cleanly converting it into energy.

I used a large format camera, the Toyo VX125b, Rodenstock 135mm f 5.6 Apo-Sironar-S, Schneider 72mm f/5.6 Super-Angulon XL, Rodenstock 210mm f 5.6 Apo-Sironar-S lenses. The film was Fuji 160NS in 4×5”.

Some of these photographs were featured in the new Hopkins Architects monograph, Hopkins 3.

The blog of Simon Kennedy, Architectural Photographer based in London.

One of my favourite pieces of architecture in London, a place undeniably rich in fantastic architecture. There is just something about the Barbican… I enjoyed it as an architect, over the years I have photographed its architecture many times, made short films about it, animated strange perverted robots jumping out of it, given it lashing serrated tongues and turned it’s balconies into a saw. Now that I am a full-time architectural photographer, it is interesting to return to it and respond to it in a different way.

I used a large format camera, the Toyo VX125b, Rodenstock 135mm f 5.6 Apo-Sironar-S, Schneider 72mm f/5.6 Super-Angulon XL, Rodenstock 210mm f 5.6 Apo-Sironar-S lenses. Film was Fomapan 100, self-developed in Ilfosol.
