ARC CENTRE, BURY ST EDMUNDS, SUFFOLK, BY HOPKINS ARCHITECTS

A £60 million overall development in the medieval market town of Bury St Edmunds. The scheme by Hopkins Architects occupies the Cattle Market site that was also formerly a car park, adding residential and commercial accommodation, and a major new public building, the Apex, containing a theatre and restaurant. The scheme extends the existing medieval grid structure with sensitively-scaled development, and utilizes traditional render techniques as well as modern building practices. The Hopkins Architects website contains more information. Architectural photography completed on a two-day shoot. (All images copyright Simon Kennedy, London Architectural Photographer.)
