PEABODY AVENUE, PIMLICO, LONDON, 2011, HAWORTH TOMPKINS ARCHITECTS

This scheme for Peabody Avenue in Pimlico extends and completes H. A. Darbishire's 19th century housing with 55 new flats. The avenue was partly destroyed during the Second World War and remained in that state until the completion of this scheme. The £10.4 million project extends the avenue, completing it with a new public space containing a playground, and providing both public and private housing. The scheme features materials and details that reference and update the existing architecture. Architectural photography completed over two days.
